We're taking a leap here on The Orlando Vacation Tips Blog and bringing you another new weekly instalment. Every Friday we'll be bringing you a piece of Disney history and calling it, "Flashback Friday." We're calling our first instalment, "Building Walt's Dream." While overseeing the building of Disneyland in Anaheim, CA, Walt was faced with many difficulties. He put the entire family savings into building it and what did his staff and critics say?


“It won’t work!”

“You’re wasting money on something that won’t generate revenue!”
“And the idea of fancy landscaping is ridiculous!”
“Tell Walt he’s nuts!”

So last time in the series we discovered that Walt Disney was in fact not a singing bust at the Haunted Mansion, and that the bust in question was actually voiced by Thurl Ravenscroft.

This week we ask the question, is there a secret club at Disneyland?

Claim: As you walk around New Orleans Square at the Disneyland Park, you look up to the second floor of the surrounding buildings and see people on the balconies. But wait... Those people look just like you. Not like the Cast Members who work at the park. So can you get up there? Or do you have to be part of a magical guest list? Is there really a secret club at Disneyland?

Well as promised, here is the first in a series of articles about all the Disney myths that you may hear. In this series I will prove all of the most famous claims that you have heard, true or false. This time we are talking about the Haunted Mansion, so climb in your Doom Buggy and let's visit those Grim Grinning Ghosts.

Claim: During the Haunted Mansion attraction, we encounter a group of busts singing in a graveyard. There are four still intact, but one broken with his head lying on the floor. The claim to this weeks installment of “Disney: Fact or Fiction?” is that Walt Disney providing the voice and visual for the broken bust.
